This new functionality enhances the attendance and time management efficacy of SAP SuccessFactors significantly. The time tracking functionality fits perfectly with the preceding Employee Central Attendance and Time features that enable businesses to manage and track time in the cloud. Nonetheless, there is a lot more to discuss regarding this functionality, so continue reading to explore SAP SuccessFactors cloud-based time tracking functionality.

Cloud-based functionality

The cloud-based time tracking functionalities can be integrated with both SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll and SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central. This product is developed by SAP and enables enterprises to facilitate advanced management of time and attendance simultaneously.

Using this feature can help organizations get real-time updates, enabling them to get an enhanced and transparent view of how time is being managed and utilized by the employees. Enterprises now have the capability to get effective control over the employees’ work schedules by tracking the time spent by employees. Organizations can leverage this capability to minimize every employee’s labor and operational cost, all while getting access to interactive dashboards and valuable insights.

This cloud-based time tracking functionality is engineered to seamlessly manage operations on an international scale while integrating with local calendars. This helps businesses to keep track of local holidays and country-based payment information in the local languages. The management of the enterprise can leverage this data to simplify complex management tasks and facilitate seamless management of an international workforce with enhanced flexibility.

Unsurpassed capabilities

This new cloud-based time tracking functionality is equipped with numerous superior capabilities that can benefit enterprises in numerous ways when used effectively. Therefore, let us check out a couple of these competencies.

Integration with Clock Terminal: The time tracking functionality enables enterprises to access real-time information as soon as the employee swipes in or out of the organization premise. This makes it very easy for the human resource department to calculate the overtime and working time compensations. Further, time admins can access any particular console and track time while ensuring that any abnormality is resolved at the earliest.

Built-In Analytics: The time tracking functionality enables enterprises to access valuable insights that can be offered to any internal stakeholder for evaluation. One can even leverage this feature to gain insight into the financial implications of any sort of risk to productivity and overtime. In addition, the predefined metric pack offered by this functionality helps organizations determine any complications related to attendance and simultaneously develop an action plan to tackle the issue.

Enhanced Flexibility for Management and Employees: This functionality is equipped with flextime capabilities, making it easier to maintain work-life balance and any overtime expenses. Further, the management department can simply create a timesheet to facilitate an advanced approval mechanism for overtime, travel, remote works. Employees can seamlessly trigger overtime payouts, making it easy for the organization to employees diligently and with the utmost accuracy.

Benefits of cloud-based time-tracking functionality of SAP SuccessFactors

We already know that the new time tracking functionally of SAP SuccessFactors can be seamlessly deployed on the cloud. This feature is made available to enterprises as a Software-as-a-Service or SaaS meaning that it can be easily accessed from any web browser at any time. Therefore, let us look at some of the primary benefits of this feature in SAP SuccessFactors.

Enhanced control over labor and operations costs with minimized compliance risks: Organizations leveraging this cloud-based time tracking functionality can configure the system used by the enterprise to comply with different collective and corporate laws and agreements. This includes the different overtime regulations, break or recess rules, on-call time, and premiums.

Enhancing employee experience: The time tracking functionality enables organizations to provide managers, employees, and even admins with personalized and intuitive access to the timesheets from any device such as mobile devices or computers but surely based on their roles in the enterprise.

Simplified administration: The cloud-based functionality also allows enterprises to update, configure, and even monitor the different time management processes used by the organization. In addition, enterprises can benefit from other functionalities such as mass approvals, automated approvals, embedded reporting, automated recalculations, and even alerts.

Seamless integration with the landscape: As mentioned earlier, the cloud-based time management functionality is equipped with an in-built integration to the SAP SuccessFactors Employees Central Payroll. This allows enterprises to import the pre-planned working time information and data from any third-part shift planning solutions and tools.

What is next for time tracking in SAP SuccessFactors?

Over the next couple of years, SAP is very likely to put more investment into the time tracking feature of SAP SuccessFactors to boost activity-based functionality. This means that an organization currently using the on-premise SAP ERP HCM can now leverage the SAP ERP CATS (Cross-Application Time Sheet) and SAP ERP HCM Time to suffice two isolated and independent requirements. In simple terms, while the SAP ERP HCM Time remains focused on the employees’ working time, the CATS will manage and allocate time to the tasks or operations that the employee is occupied with.

According to a new study by SecureAge, 83% of U.S. companies and 86% of U.K. companies adopted new cybersecurity measures to cope with the remote workforce. Companies in Japan have also taken various cybersecurity measures to adapt to the rapidly shifting remote work environment that resulted from COVID-19.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has been one of the most fundamentally challenging periods ever for businesses and their employees alike,” said Jerry Ray, COO of SecureAge Technology. “Unfortunately, these day-to-day challenges have been compounded by a new wave of cybersecurity threats which have resulted in a host of additional threats to businesses and workers.”

Many of the surveyed companies stated their establishment adopted new cybersecurity protocols. U.S. and U.K. respondents answered that they were either “very confident” or “somewhat confident” in the protective measures taken against cyberattacks taken by their organization, while the Japanese respondents answered at a majority 43% “neutral” outlook towards the cyberattack protection protocols taken on their end.

Of the surveyed respondents, the U.S. leads with the use of a required two-factor identification authentication process at 34%, the U.K. leads with established VPN use at 43%, and Japan leads with the use of company-provided antivirus software for remote employees at 25%.

As offices open, many companies are investing in new and updated technology to protect from cyberattacks associated with remote work. Of the actions that the three countries are taking, cloud solutions are the most requested method, followed by file-level encryption and then full-disk encryption.

The biggest challenge that companies face across the board typically resulted from issues with technical implementations. Roughly 25% of overall employees felt reluctant about enacting these new cybersecurity procedures. Nonetheless, every company surveyed stated that they were implementing a budget increase devoted strictly towards cybersecurity. The majority stated that they would be investing roughly 11%-25% more than they had previously.

With many companies investing a large sum of money into cybersecurity efforts, such as in training and technology, the pandemic has exposed potential vulnerabilities in the data protection sector of the corporate world.

The study was conducted between July and August 2021 and included 1,000 U.S.-based respondents, 600 U.K.-based respondents, and 300 Japan-based respondents.

According to a new study by Stepsize, 51% of engineers left or considered leaving their job because of technical debt. This explains why compensation and growth opportunities might not be enough to keep engineers happy; technical debt causes frustration and hinders innovation.

At a high level, technical debt is a delayed maintenance cost caused by initial tradeoffs between quality and speed. Businesses today spend a great portion of their profit on hiring engineers; therefore, it’s essential for them to keep their staff turnover as low as possible and look closely for reasons such as technical debt that cause engineers to leave their jobs.

An overwhelming 82% of engineers stated that lack of proper development practices affects their job satisfaction. “As a developer, I want to join an organization with a clean, logical codebase. If I get an opportunity, I can also take a messy, chaotic codebase and make it a good one. That’s a long battle, but a worthwhile one,” said cloud application architect Brian Richardson.

However, companies tend to underinvest in maintenance and codebase health. Engineers often feel pressure to sacrifice code quality to meet deadlines and ship new features fast, which increases the growth and impact of technical debt.

“The right way to fight technical debt is to talk about it across the whole company so that everyone can understand why it’s vital to manage it carefully,” said Alex Omeyer, CEO at Stepsize. “To fill in the communication gap between stakeholders and technical people, developers can try to use more business-oriented metrics such as time lost by engineering teams or an impact of technical debt on customers.”

Stepsize surveyed 200+ senior and junior engineers at enterprises, SMEs, and startups to find out how codebase health and technical debt impact hiring and employee retention.

Read the full report by Stepsize.

According to a report from Barracuda, 35% of organizations were targeted and had an average of three employee email accounts impacted by bait attacks; also, 91% of all bait attacks were conducted over Gmail.

Bait attacks (also known as reconnaissance attacks) are a class of threats utilized by malicious actors looking to gather information from potential victims. The goal of bait attacks is to confirm the existence of a victim’s email account, if the message is not returned as undeliverable, or to engage in a conversation with the intent to collect information for future attacks. The initial messages are often very short or completely empty. Because these emails have very little content and are often sent from reputable email services, it is difficult for conventional phishing detectors to defend against them.

If the past year has shown us anything, it’s that anyone is susceptible to bait attacks, just as they are to other email threats. In a previous report, Barracuda found that the average organization is targeted through 700 or more social engineering attacks each year. These kinds of attacks are only becoming more targeted and personalized, making them increasingly difficult to detect.

To defend against these kinds of attacks, security teams should implement AI detection methods. They should also train their users to recognize and report bait attacks to their IT and security teams, displaying real examples in security awareness training and attack-simulation campaigns to better prepare employees to identify and respond appropriately.

Most importantly, security teams should not let bait attacks sit inside users’ inboxes. Once a bait attack is identified, it is critical to remove it immediately, before the message can be opened or given a response. This will help to prevent any further activity from the threat and lessen the odds of becoming a target.

Researchers from Barracuda analyzed bait attack patterns in September 2021 from 10,500 organizations.

Companies with the best training data produce the best performing models. AI industry leaders like Andrew Ng have recently emerged as major proponents of data-centric machine learning for enterprises, which requires creating and maintaining high-quality training data. Unfortunately, the tremendous effort it takes to gather, label, and prep that training data often overwhelms teams (when the task is not outsourced) and can compromise both the quality and quantity of training data.

Just as importantly, model performance can only improve at the speed at which your training data improves, so fast iteration cycles for training data is crucial. Iteration helps ML teams find new edge cases and improve performance. Additionally, iteration helps to refine and course correct data throughout the AI development lifecycle to maintain its reflection of real-world conditions. Shrinking the length of that iteration cycle lets you hone your data and conduct a greater number of experiments, accelerating the path to production AI systems.

It’s clear that iterating on training data is vital to building performant models quickly — so how can ML teams create the optimal workflow for this data-first approach?

Overcoming the challenges of a data-first approach

A data-first approach to machine learning involves some unique challenges, including management, analysis, and labeling.

Because machine learning requires a great deal of iteration and experimentation, companies often find themselves with a management system that’s a patchwork of models and results, stored haphazardly. Without a centralized spot for data storage and standard, reliable tools for exploration, results become difficult to track and reproduce, and finding patterns in the data becomes a challenge.

That means teams are often overwhelmed when digging out the insights they need from their data. Of course, large quantities of data is technically the way to solve business problems. But unless teams can streamline the data labeling process by labeling only the data that has true value, the process will quickly become unmanageable.

Using data to build a competitive advantage

Building an AI data engine is a series of iteration loops, with each loop making the model better. As companies with the best training data generally produce the most performant models, these companies will attract more customers who will generate even more data. It continuously imports model outputs as pre-labeled data, ensuring that each cycle is shorter than the last for labelers. That data is used to improve the next iteration of training and deployment, again and again. This ongoing loop keeps your models up to date, boosts their efficiency, and strengthens your AI.

Building this often required a great deal of hands-on labeling from subject matter experts — medical doctors identifying images of tumors; office workers labeling receipts; and so on. Automation dramatically speeds up the process, sending labeled data to humans to check and correct, eliminating the need to start from scratch.

A robust data engine needs only the smallest set of data to label to improve model performance, automatically labeling a sample of data for the model to work with, and only requiring verification from humans in some instances.

Putting it all together to improve model performance

Speeding up your data-centric iteration process takes just a few steps.

The first is to bring all your data to a single place, enabling your teams to access the training data, metadata, previous annotations, and model predictions quickly at any time, and iterate faster. Once your data is accessible within your training data platform, you can annotate a small dataset to get your model going.

Then, evaluate your baseline model. Measure your performance early, and measure it often. One or more baseline models can speed up your ability to pivot, as its performance develops. To create a solid foundation, your team should focus on identifying any errors early on and iterating, rather than optimizing.

Next, curate your data set according to your model diagnosis. Rather than bulk-labeling a massive amount of data, which takes time, energy, and money, create a small, carefully selected set of data to build on the baseline version of your model. Choose the assets that will best improve model performance, taking into account any edge cases and trends you found during model evaluation and diagnosis.

Finally, annotate your small dataset, and keep the iterative process going by assessing your progress and correcting for any errors like data distribution, concept clarity, class frequency errors, and outlier errors.

Training data platforms (TDP) are purpose-built for just this advantage, helping combine data, people, and processes into one seamless experience, and enabling ML teams to produce performant models quicker and more efficiently.

According to an extensive analysis conducted by Avant Analytics, a research arm of the IT distribution firm Avant, 90% of IT leaders stated they were at the very least likely to incrementally introduce secure access service edge (SASE) migrations into their current framework in 2021.

As IT leaders look to outfit their infrastructure with solutions that fit them best, many are looking at SASE as a new, promising technology. The vast majority of IT leaders understand that SASE is a worthwhile investment and a good solution to adopt into their current framework, but only just over a third of respondents are currently implementing it. Avant Analytics’ comprehensive analysis demonstrates the current landscape of SASE solutions and how distributors, developers, and C-suite executives view their plans to introduce the technology.

Among the major reasons why leaders in this space haven’t jumped on their plans to implement SASE is because they need the right infrastructure and advisors to properly adopt the solution.

Although 67% of leaders in the IT industry stated that enhanced security was their most prominent objective, only 35% have begun to implement SASE into their networks, likely due to a need for expertise on the technology. The report shows that 76% of SASE customers turn to trusted advisors to provide educational assistance for SASE. These highly qualified experts can provide customized, in-depth knowledge for introducing SASE to a framework.

Ultimately, as services move deeper into the cloud-native infrastructure and need networking and security assurance at the source of data collection, SASE will begin to grow in popularity. Security is already a hot-button issue for every CIO and cybersecurity lead in every business, which is why the market is expected to balloon in value in the next few years.

The acceleration in the media landscape’s shift toward mobile, streaming, and content consumption that’s not ad-supported has rocked digital marketing. Privacy enhancements are making things even more complicated. But all is not dark — the tremendous consumer appetite for digital channels just keeps growing, and that’s where smart marketers still have a place.

“The resulting landscape creates opportunities for digital marketers who deeply understand not only how to market their products and services, but also the technical workings of their specific channels, and how those can be harnessed to produce results for the business,” says Rob Webb, SVP of growth at Tonal, the smart home gym company that currently boasts Lebron James as spokesperson.

Not surprisingly, the COVID bump saw Tonal achieve extremely high growth since the pandemic began – 8X year over year. But to get there, Webb asserts, they relied heavily on their internal marketing analytics and forecasting abilities.

“Our team deeply understands the channels they work within,” he says, “and what’s capable within them, what we can do with external analytics, and how we can extract signal from noise and make sure we’re making good marketing decisions to put up good results for our business.”

Why marketers have to be technologists

Whether or not you have an AI and analytics team at your disposal, it’s vital to understand the AI and machine learning that are at play within the systems that you’re working with on a daily basis, and testing to see how you can tap into the machine learning algorithms used in the platforms and channels that you’re targeting. It’s even more important because the level of technical complexity in the world marketers work in these days is high and rising.

Marketers who truly understand how their business works, from who their consumers are to how they think about their product, but also the technical capabilities and limitations of platforms in their arsenal, can add immense value for businesses today who are trying to break through, Webb says.

“Whether you’re a digital marketer, a brand marketer, a product marketer, or a content

marketer, you should be pushing yourself to have a deep understanding of what the technical

capabilities of the tools and channels you manage are — and not relying on someone else to tell you,” he says. “Extract information and get advice, but you need that knowledge yourself, in your own head.”

The challenges and opportunities in the current media landscape

And here’s what smart marketers need to keep an eye out for in the rapidly moving media landscape. TV viewership is still the largest channel out there, but it’s collapsing quickly. While sports is a bright spot, the Tokyo Olympics were down 40% in prime-time TV viewers versus the Summer Olympics in Rio, and low viewership is expected in the Beijing Winter Olympics. It’s kicking off a cascade of make-goods for digital marketers looking for a place to put their dollars, with the traditional mega-brand target rating points (TRP) and gross rating points (GRP) model of measuring audience reach going strong, but still under strain. That spending is getting pushed into other channels that are measured in different ways.

“It’s complicated to navigate, but it’s also a huge opportunity for marketers who are willing to roll up their sleeves and push themselves to truly, deeply understand the mechanics of their channels and their internal analytics teams, marrying that information with the dynamics of their business,” Webb says.

Opportunity is especially available with platforms that have developed fairly robust advertising tools over the past two or three years, such as Reddit. This is especially important against the backdrop of growing subscription models which have disrupted the TV and streaming world with services like Hulu and YouTube Premium. That model is even moving now into podcasts, with Wondery, and it is inevitable that this continues, Webb says, and it’s something that digital marketers need to keep a sharp eye on.

“I don’t think subscription models are a blip,” he explains. “As a digital marketer thinking about what other properties we use that rely on the ad media model, which ones of those might actually flip into a subscription, non-ad-supported model — would Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and so on? Why not? After everything that Facebook’s going through, I’m sure they’ve at least modeled it out.”

Another interesting trend Webb notes is with Google Shopping and how that impacts paid search. While it’s clear that Google is investing heavily in Google Shopping, it provides far less control for marketers.

“How to harness Google Shopping and get those rich results, but also extracting the data you need to send traffic, even just to the right landing page based on consumer behavior — that’s quite difficult,” Webb says. “We’re focusing on those two heavily right now.”

SEO itself is an ever-evolving landscape that marketers have always needed to stay on top of. But advancements in AI are accelerating and making Google’s algorithm increasingly more dynamic and sophisticated – and only serving up links to sites that can provide the value and quality experiences searchers are looking for. According to Ren Lacerda, Head of SEO at the digital auto shopping company CarMax, this moves SEO even more into product management.

“Marketers must dedicate time, technology, and effort in understanding and monitoring what Google believes their searchers want for all topics relevant to their business,” he says. “And this means expanding the scope of what unique value we can bring to Google searchers by designing, creating, and delivering top-quality experiences.”

Lacerda also points to advancements in NLP (natural language processing) and its impact on SEO. “As advancements in AI speed up exponentially in the next 5-10 years,” he explains, “if your SEO team is not following up on the advancements in NLP, you may be missing the train soon.”

The changes in privacy 2021 ushered in will only increase. Webb warns that we have to expect a convergence of privacy and consumer choice both continuing to escalate, while ad platform algorithms will get more sophisticated.

“There’s an interesting tension between those two, and frankly that’s where the mega-tech platforms are actually battling each other’s models with privacy enhancements and algorithms,” he says. “It’s the marketer’s job to figure out how they can tap into success for their own business while that drama unfolds in parallel.”

And while all these trends are important to integrate into your 2022 strategy, it’s essential to avoid the temptation of creating a siloed strategy for different digital marketing channels.

As Lacerda explains, “Consumers’ awareness and perception of their online experience tend to be seamless. Think about identifying passing-the-baton moments between all your channels. Identify synergies to explore and friction points to iron out, so that no matter where they jump in, the value you are bringing is always there, congruent and compatible, independent of the path consumers choose to explore the online universe.”

Thoma Bravo has a track record not only of in investing in companies, but acquiring them outright — in the past year it has doled out well over $20 billion to acquire companies such as network security company Proofpoint and real estate software and data analytics company RealPage.

It’s not clear whether this latest deal represents a minority or majority investment, but it serves to highlight the growing importance of product analytics and adoption tools at a time when every company has effectively become a software company. Getting new customers and users on board — and keeping them there — in what is an increasingly competitive landscape is vital, which is where Pendo and its ilk are thriving.

“As digital transformation has escalated across all industries, efficient and easy-to-use software is a business imperative,” Thoma Bravo partner Robert (Tre) Sayle noted in a press release. “Pendo is a clear and proven leader, addressing the growing market need for excellent software experiences.”

Other notable players in the space include WalkMe and Whatfix, the latter having closed a $90 million funding round just a few months back, while Reprise this week raised $62 million for a platform that helps companies showcase their products with interactive demos.

During the “The Apple Ecosystem Challenges” panel, presented by Xsolla at GamesBeat Summit Next, panelists discussed how the changes to the Apple app store ecosystem offer challenges, but also potential opportunity, from the IDFA deprecation to Apple’s various legal battles.

How a class action lawsuit is breaking open the market for developers

It began when Apple and Google moved to remove Epic from their stores after Epic added a link in Fortnite asking players to pay them directly, rather than paying through the in-app processing. Epic was ready with a federal lawsuit, accusing both of antitrust violations under the Sherman Antitrust Act. The court held in Apple’s favor, explained panelist Rick Hoeg, host and founder of Virtual Legality on YouTube, and in favor of section 3.1.1 in Apple’s app developer guidelines — which prohibit developer metadata, links, and calls to action. And as a result, the 30% fee that goes to Apple still stands. But developers have options, says Chris Hewish, president of Xsolla.

“What we’re seeing a lot of developers and publishers do now is spinning up web shops that are basically stores for their games, or a version of their games on the web that links back into the app itself, in the app store, on the back end,” he explained. “They’re driving users to that web shop and monetizing them there. Doing it this way, at least from our perspective, they’re paying anywhere from 7 to 10% versus a 30% fee.”

Developers like Supercell have also implemented top-up pages, and companies like Nexters and Scopely have created web shop versions of their games. It’s a strategy that’s been around awhile, in which bigger companies reach out to their players through Discord or in other ways online to direct them over to these proprietary stores.

That’s changed since the ruling with Epic versus Apple, and subsequent changes to the app store guidelines last Friday. In response to a class action lawsuit from another developer, Apple removed guideline 3.1.3, which prohibited developers from using information or contacting players based on information they got in the app, and guideline 5.1.1, which restricted how developers used the data. Now mobile developers can collect information about players in-app and then use it to contact the players and direct them to these alternative stores.

Smaller mobile publishers and developers have now seized this opportunity, which overall nets them a savings of about 20 cents on the dollar, Hewish said.

“What we’re not seeing yet is people that are actually putting new payment systems into an app, or creating ads in an app that drive users outside of the app store,” Hewish said. “That still, from our perspective, is a no-go zone.”

“But one thing that’s been widely misunderstood is those calls to action — if they are implementing a 3.1.1 change directly in the app, hitting a button and going and spending money, [that] probably still accrues some amount of fees to Apple,” Hoeg noted. “The court was pretty adamant about the fact that Apple has a right to get some amount of money for using its IP.”

But whatever choice a developer makes, whether that’s on the store or going off on its own, there’s still a big cost around customer support, handling taxes, VAT compliance, chargebacks, the server and platform fees, and so on, Hewitt said. Somewhere along the way those have to be paid.

“The immediate opportunity is the fact that people are waking up to the reality that there is a bigger world out there to do business in,” he said. “Getting your game onto the web and driving business there through Google ads or whatever it may be, through more personal relationships with your players, you gain access to up to 60% larger audiences when you start to look at a lot of the other territories around the world.”

Why IDFA is making creative the new king

“It’s nothing to do with privacy,” said Brian Bowman, CEO, ConsumerAcquisition.com, about Apple’s IDFA changes. “It has to do with Apple losing control of merchandising the app store.”

If privacy was really their concern, he asserted, they would have put app tracking transparency on their own apps when they launched 14.6, and added the pop-up window asking whether the consumer was okay with being tracked by their Apple products, instead of calling it “personalization.”

“It’s Apple exerting monopolistic capabilities because they can,” he said. “They’re clearly on the path to trying to launch another ad network. They failed twice. I would highly suppose that they’ll fail a third time unless they’re willing to build something that’s elegant and allows people to target with efficiency that has been lost.”

Across the board, IDFA has impacted both targeting and measurement, which has had a pretty major impact on the effectiveness of both ecommerce and user acquisition. Q3 is the first quarter companies have seen the full impact of the measure. The more that an advertiser focuses on direct response advertising, the greater financial loss there appears to be to their business. Most companies expect Q4 to be just as bumpy, with less efficient spend: more money on ads to get the same number of sales, without enough data to effectively measure the sales they’re getting.

“Over the past decade we’ve all built our models, our lifetime-value models, the way we analyze and work on things, to take into account this kind of deterministic certainty,” Bowman said. “When that gets removed, very quickly the whole industry has to spin and figure out how to take advantage of it.”

The answer is going to be contextual advertising, Bowman says.

“Unity and AppLovin have a good chance of growing through this, for two reasons,” he says. “One, they’ve been contextual at their core for years, and two, everyone is scrambling to try to recover lost efficiency coming out of some of the other channels, so they’re exploring these new guys in ways that they may not have before. Now they’re very focused on that.”

For Bowen, the way out for developers is clear.

“Creative is king now,” he said. “Since the algorithms have changed fundamentally, the last lever you have control over is to do better creative. It’s obviously very hard to do.”

CoreWeave, a specialized cloud services provider for GPU-based workloads, said it has partnered with GPU giant Nvidia to enable companies to scale their infrastructure, cut costs, and improve efficiencies.

This rather new cloud services provider is offering on-demand computing resources across several verticals in the tech space and said it will continue to improve performance with help from a $50 million round of investment from Magnetar Capital.

Data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software engineers, to name a few roles, can utilize CoreWeave to deploy artificial intelligence applications and machine learning models. Furthermore, clients can manage their complex AI solutions, powered by GPUs, with the help of CoreWeave’s specialized DevOps expertise, the company said.

No more slow predictions from cloud services

A baseline problem in data science modeling from legacy cloud service providers is slow prediction. CoreWeave said it can improve prediction times by half by reducing inference latency, as well as servicing requests three times faster. As a result, the company estimated that cloud costs could be cut by 75%. These benefits can translate to a decrease in downtime, which can open up data scientists to allocate more time to other projects, ultimately allowing for a more comprehensive, data science-enabled company, CoreWeave suggested. Additionally, these cost savings can be put toward either hiring for more talent or investing in other resources instead.

“$50 million is a big number, and it allows us to accelerate our growth, fortify our infrastructure, and expand our footprint in ways previously unimaginable, despite being profitable since day one,” CoreWeave’s CEO, Michael Intrator, wrote in a blog post announcing the funding. “In 2022, we’ll be launching data centers in new regions, doubling down on our commitment to deliver the industry’s broadest range of high-end compute, and continuing to provide the world’s best infrastructure for on-demand, compute-intensive workloads.”
