Moto Watch 100, a rumoured smartwatch from Motorola, has leaked in new official-looking renders. Specifications of the smartwatch have also been leaked, although an exact launch date is not known. Moto Watch 100 is seen with a circular display in the renders and is said to come with silicone strap, marked by a striped design. The wearable is said to offer features like heart rate monitoring and steps tracking. It is also reported to come with GPS support. The purported Moto Watch 100 is also said to feature a waterproof design.

91Mobiles cites industry sources to leak multiple renders of Moto Watch 100. The smartwatch is seen to come with a circular display and a minimalistic design. The renders show the smartwatch sporting two buttons on the side with a metallic finish. The report suggests that the watch case is made of aluminium. However, it also suggests that the Moto Watch 100 backplate may be made of plastic. In the renders, the wearable is seen to have a black finish but Motorola is likely to launch device in more colourways and strap options as well.

The renders also suggest that Moto Watch 100 could be waterproof to an extent. It is reported to feature a 1.3-inch circular LCD display with 360×360 pixels resolution. Moto Watch 100 may weigh about 29 grams only and is tipped to measure 42x46x11.9mm. The watch band’s width is reported to be at 20mm. Moto Watch 100 is said to pack a 355mAh battery and come with Bluetooth v5 connectivity. In addition, the wearable is reported to offer inbuilt GPS.

Moto Watch 100 is reported to not feature a rotating bezel. As for sensors, the report claims that the smartwatch is likely to integrate a heart rate sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, SpO2 sensor, and ambient light sensor. It is also reported to offer sleep tracking and sensor counting. Other features like the number of sports modes and the actual battery life are not known yet. Motorola has not made an official announcement regarding Moto Watch 100.

Fitbit is rolling out new updates for its app and wearables. The Google-owned company is adding a new health metric called the Daily Readiness Score on the Fitbit app for its latest smartwatches and trackers. The feature calculates users’ willingness for workouts and suggests what they should be doing on a given day based on the heart rate, sleep, and activity. The Fitbit Charge 5 fitness tracker is also getting an on-device electrocardiogram (ECG) app. Additionally, Fitbit users in India can access a new blood glucose logging tool in the Fitbit app.

Fitbit’s Daily Readiness Score was announced in August this year alongside Fitbit Charge 5. The Daily Readiness Score works based on inputs from the user’s Fitbit device. It will monitor activity, heart rate variability, and recent sleep patterns to tell users whether they should focus on recovery or do an intense workout on a given day. Users will get a personalised score each morning with details on what impacted the scores, along with suggestions such as a recommended activity level.

Daily Readiness Score is only accessible to Fitbit Premium users. It is available for Fitbit Charge 5, Sense, Fitbit Versa 3, Fitbit Versa 2, Fitbit Luxe, or Fitbit Inspire 2. However, it is important to note that the feature requires wearing the fitness band throughout the day. Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 users will be able to access their scores directly on their wrist.

Fitbit has also unveiled an electrocardiogram (ECG) app for Fitbit Charge 5 to help users assess heart rhythm on the wearable itself. While the ECG feature was not bundled with the wearable when it was launched in August, the company has now added it via an update. Fitbit Charge 5 users can take the reading by putting their fingers on the stainless steel panels on each side of the Charge 5 for 30 seconds.

Additionally, targeting diabetes patients in India, Fitbit has added Blood Glucose Logging as well. Premium users can check their blood glucose levels directly in the Fitbit app on Android and iOS. They will also get reminders about other health metrics such as physical activity, sleep, and nutrition. Premium Fitbit users can add this feature to the Today screen by going to the Fitbit app and clicking on Discover > Health & Fitness Stats today and adding Blood Glucose to today. Apart from India, Blood Glucose logging is live for users in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, the UK, and the US.

Fitbit said it is working on adding new Fitbit audio and video workouts for Premium members. At present, the Fitbit Premium subscription costs $9.99 (roughly Rs. 740) per month.

Apple Watch Series 7 price

The Apple Watch Series 7 is available in three case materials – aluminium, stainless steel, and titanium. The aluminum case is available in five colour finishes: Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Green, and (PRODUCT) Red. The stainless steel case is available in Silver, Gold, and Graphite, while the titanium case is now available in Space Black and Titanium.

Apple offers two case sizes, 41mm and 45mm, and you have the choice of a GPS-only watch or one with GPS + Cellular connectivity. There are multiple strap options to choose from as well.

The Apple Watch Series 7 starts at Rs. 41,900 in India for a 41mm GPS-only model with an aluminum case, while the bigger 45mm model of the same spec will set you back by Rs. 44,900. If you want a GPS + Cellular Apple Watch Series 7, it will set you back by Rs. 50,900 or Rs. 53,900 for a 41mm or 45mm case respectively. The stainless steel and titanium cases command significant premiums. I had a 45mm GPS + Cellular unit with a green aluminium case for this review.

The Series 7 is the new flagship from the company, and is definitely expensive compared to other smartwatches in the market. Apple still sells the Watch SE (Review) and the Watch Series 3 (Review) for more affordable prices.

Apple Watch Series 7 design and specifications

The Apple Watch has a recognisable design, and the company hasn’t changed that much. However, the new Series 7 is slightly bigger – the cases have grown compared to the Apple Watch Series 6 (Review) and the Apple Watch SE. If you were expecting a big redesign this year, you will be disappointed.

The Series 7 now has bigger displays, and the front glass now curves over the sides of the case. The right side has the digital crown and a multi-function button just below it. Between these two is a microphone hole. On the left side you’ll find a single wide cutout for the speaker, while all the sensors for tracking are on the underside.

My Apple Watch Series 7 review unit came with a Clover Sport Band which is made out of fluoroelastomer, and has a pin-and-tuck clasp design. The Series 7 still uses the same proprietary connectors for straps, so if you have an older Apple Watch of a matching size, it will slide right in. Standard watch bands can’t be attached to the Apple Watch easily, but given the popularity of the product, you won’t have an issue finding suitable replacements that are designed especially for it.

Apple Watch Series 7 is available in 41mm and 45mm case sizes

The Apple Watch Series 7 has a 1.9-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 396×484 pixels for the 45mm model. It has a peak brightness of 1000 nits when it’s active and upto 500 nits when it’s in the always-on state. Apple has also shrunk the bezels on the Series 7 and claims that the front crystal is its most crack-resistant material yet (aluminium models have Ion-X front glass while stainless steel and titanium ones have sapphire crystal). This watch has an IP6X rating for dust resistance and is also water resistant upto 50m. If you are planning to go for a short swim, you can take this new Series 7 along to track it as well.

You get the new Apple S7 SiP powering the Apple Watch Series 7, but there is no performance improvement here. Apple says this new processor is on par with the previous-gen S6 SiP in the Series 6. The Series 7 supports dual-band Wi-Fi, Apple’s U1 chip, and ultra wideband antennas. It has health sensors for blood oxygen and heart rate tracking as well as the hardware to record an ECG. Just like the Series 6, the new Series 7 also has an always-on altimeter that can track elevation changes constantly. The fall detection feature now also works while tracking workouts.

Apple says that it has tweaked the watchOS 8 UI to take advantage of the bigger display. Text on the watch is easier to read and UI elements (tap targets) are bigger too, making it easier to do things such as entering a passcode. Apple also claims the display to be brighter in the always-on state. I found the Apple Watch Series 7 to be bright enough to check the time without needing to raise my hand to wake it. Apple has also introduced a couple of new watch faces to show more information on the bigger display.

The Apple Watch Series 7 can only be paired with an iPhone, but the process is seamless. The watch installs compatible apps that are already on your phone so you can access them on your wrist directly. For cellular models, the process of setting up LTE is simple and quick. Once done, you can stay connected using just LTE and leave your iPhone out of reach, for example while working out. Apple had also advertised faster charging speeds on the Series 7 at the time of its unveiling, but this feature is currently not available in India.

When testing the Apple Watch Series 7, it was running watchOS 8. The user interface is very intuitive. A swipe down from the homescreen gives you access to pending notifications while a swipe up shows the Control Centre. You can swipe from the left or right edges to change watch faces. These are customisable using the Apple Watch app on the iPhone.

Apple’s virtual assistant, Siri, is also available on the Apple Watch and can be summoned in three ways. You can long-press the digital crown, say “Hey Siri”, or raise the watch to your face and speak. Siri was good enough for basic tasks and quick replies while using the watch.

Apple Watch Series 7 performance and battery life

If you have used an Apple Watch in the past, the experience will be very similar. Even if you haven’t, there isn’t a steep learning curve. The Series 7 offered a smooth, lag-free experience. Pressing the digital crown opens up the app drawer on the Apple Watch, and this can be set to zoom in/out and also be used to scroll through menus and notifications. Apple has also added a sensor on the digital crown for measuring ECGs using Apple Watch Series 7. I found the watch to be quick to respond to touch inputs, and the bigger display compared to previous models did make content a little easier to read. The Contour watchface highlights the new rounded screen edges of the Series 7, while the Modular Duo face shows details of three complications at once.

The Apple Watch is well regarded for its health and fitness tracking abilities, and the Series 7 did not disappoint. I wore the watch for my evening walks, and after covering a distance I knew was 1km, the Series 7 reported it accurately. The Series 7 was also very accurate with step counting, measuring exactly 1,000 steps for the 1,000 that I manually counted. However, the step counter is a little slow to update on screen. Apple pushes you to complete three activity rings each day, which represent your exercise, movement, and standing goals. WatchOS also gamifies your fitness goals, constantly nudging you to finish your rings throughout the day. There are different challenges as well, you can participate in them or achieve targets to get medals.

You can track a wide variety of activity types with this Apple Watch such as strength training, HIIT, cycling, walking, and even swimming, and it tracked my heart rate constantly while working out. However, it does not track individual exercises such as arm curls, squats, etc, like the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic (Review) does. While working out I found that heart rate tracking was in the same range as the readout from the treadmill. The watch was also quick to detect changes in heart rate.

The Apple Watch Series 7 is capable of tracking blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), and takes around 15 seconds to measure your level, during which you need to be completely still. It showed my blood oxygen level to be between 96 percent and 98 percent, which is within the ideal range for a healthy individual. While SpO2 tracking is convenient, no wearable should be used as a replacement for a dedicated pulse oximeter. The Apple Watch can track SpO2 levels throughout the day and even while you are asleep.

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, which cannot take ECG readings in India (yet), the Apple Watch Series 7 can record an ECG, taking about 30 seconds to do so. The Apple Watch does check for signs of atrial fibrillation but warns that it cannot detect heart attacks. ECG readings are stored on your paired iPhone and can from there be sent to your doctor.

Sleep tracking is one area in which the Apple Watch Series 7 can still do with some improvement. I found it to be inconsistent. If you sleep at a set time and wake up with an alarm, it can track those times correctly. Unfortunately it failed to track sleep properly on days when I switched off the alarm and went back to sleep. It also does not provide a detailed breakdown of sleep phases, instead it only shows time in bed and sleep trends for the week. A new feature in WatchOS 8 is respiratory rate tracking – the Apple Watch can now detect the number of breaths you take per minute.

Since I had a cellular-enabled model of the Apple Watch Series 7, I set it up with an eSIM. The watch primarily relies on Bluetooth to stay connected to your iPhone. When the phone is out of range (or out of power), the watch hunts for a saved Wi-Fi network. If you are around one, the Series 7 latches on to it without any issues, keeping you connected. The Watch Series 7 only switches to LTE when everything else fails.

You can take incoming calls directly on the watch and make outgoing calls as well. I had to raise the watch quite close to my face to hear callers clearly, and they did notice that I wasn’t speaking from a smartphone, but did not have any complaints about sound quality. You can pair Bluetooth headphones to the Apple Watch Series 7 and comfortably leave your iPhone behind when going for a run or while working out.

Apple claims 18 hours of battery life on the Apple Watch Series 7, and I was able to get about a day and a half worth of use on a single charge. The device did have to track workouts during this time. It was set to monitor my heart rate throughout the day, with the always-on display mode enabled, and SpO2 tracking on by default. During this time, the watch was connected to my iPhone at all times. I did also manage to get just about two days’ worth of battery life with the always-on display switched off. Using the Series 7’s cellular capability resulted in a drop in battery life as I expected.

Charging the Apple Watch Series 7 requires the included magnetic charging puck. Apple claims 33 percent faster charging compared to the Apple Watch Series 6, but sadly this feature is not (yet) available in India. The Apple Watch Series 7 charges relatively slowly, getting to about 41 percent in an hour. Once it is fully charged, you’ll get a notification on your iPhone, which is very convenient.

Verdict

The Apple Watch Series 7 is an incremental upgrade over the Apple Watch Series 6 (Review) and could have passed off as an Apple Watch Series 6s. The biggest difference, visually, on the Apple Watch Series 7 compared to the Series 6 is the bigger and brighter display. Fast charging would have been a worthwhile update but sadly it isn’t supported in India. If you are using an Apple Watch Series 6, there isn’t any incentive for you to upgrade to the Series 7 right away.

Apple has sadly discontinued the Series 6 Apple Watch in India, officially at least, and has priced the Series 7 at a slight premium of Rs. 1,000 for the smaller 41mm variants while the 45mm ones are exactly the same price. If you are using an Apple Watch Series 3 (Review) or older, the Series 7 will be a noticeable upgrade for roughly the cost of the outgoing Apple Watch Series 6. If you don’t want to spend as much, the Apple Watch SE (Review) is still a capable alternative on a budget.

Apple’s rumoured mixed reality headset is reported to come with Wi-Fi 6E support f or higher bandwidth and low latency. TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released his latest investor note to reveal more details about the mixed reality headset, including its launch timeline. The analyst predicts that Apple may bring its first mixed reality headset sometime in the fourth quarter of 2022. Apart from Apple, Kuo also expects Meta and Sony to adopt Wi-Fi 6/6E for their head-mounted displays.

The latest Kuo investor note, accessed by MacRumors, suggests that Apple’s rumoured AR/VR headset may support Wi-Fi 6E connectivity to meet the needs of the high-end and immersive experiences. “The adoption of the latest Wi-Fi specification is a basic requirement for head-mounted displays (HMDs) to improve the wireless experience. New HMDs from Meta, Apple, and Sony will all adopt Wi-Fi 6/6E in 2022,” Kuo reportedly says in his latest investor note.

The analyst added that Apple will be launching its first mixed reality headset in Q4 2022. Competitors Meta and Sony are also reportedly gearing up to launch their new headsets in the second half of 2022 and Q2 2022, respectively. Kuo previously suggested that the mixed reality headset launch was delayed due to the complex design causing production speed bumps. However, those issues seem to have been ironed out with launch timeframe now scheduled for next year.

9to5Mac, who also accessed the investor note, reports that Kuo predicts adoption of 5G mmWave as well for mixed-reality headsets in the future. In the past, Kuo revealed that the Apple mixed reality headset will not be positioned as only as a gaming device, but also as something ready for other applications as well. Kuo says that there is a market expectation for Apple’s headset to be the “best industrial design so far.”

Apple’s mixed reality headset is tipped to use Sony’s Micro-OLED displays along with optical modules. They could be priced for around $1,000 (roughly Rs. 73,000). In addition, the headset may weigh 100 to 200 grams and feature onboard computing and storage capabilities. It is said to deliver a significantly better experience than VR products currently in the market.

Apple is reportedly working on a new iPhone and Apple Watch feature that detects if you’re in a car crash and dials 911 automatically. The current plan is to roll out such a feature next year.

Google’s Personal Safety app on Pixel phones already includes a feature to call for help when it detects car crashes, just like connected car services in modern vehicles do, including GM’s OnStar, Subaru’s Starlink, and Fiat Chrysler’s Uconnect.

Many cars on the road today are not equipped with any connectivity features, so getting crash detection on an iPhone too means more drivers can get the help they need in an accident as long as they have one in their pocket or mounted to their dash.

The rise of unsafe smartphone usage in cars made way for integration systems like CarPlay and Android Auto, the former appearing in nearly 80 percent of new vehicles in 2020, according to Apple.

Building a new crash detection feature into the iPhone alongside CarPlay could bolster Apple’s rumoured IronHeart project to connect its phone with car settings in the same way HomeKit controls smart speakers and lighting. Targeting the annual $2 billion (roughly Rs. 14,915 crore) revenue stream that GM brings in with OnStar with the built-in features would be a very Apple thing to do.

While Apple’s accident detection hasn’t always worked as intended in the past, the company has had many years to collect data and analytics on willing iOS and watchOS users. It remains to be seen how accurately Apple will be able to detect car crashes, let alone people falling.

During an interview with Fortune, Accenture CEO Julie Sweet revealed the immersive technology acquisition, saying the company has acquired 60,000 Oculus headsets for onboarding and training new employees. But Accenture is only the latest in a line of other giants such as Walmart and Bank of America in embracing the technology.

“It’s (VR) a great way to learn about Accenture in a more engaging fashion but have an experience with people you don’t get to be in a room with going through your new joiner training,” Julie Sweet said.

Established in 2001, Accenture has grown to become one of the world’s largest employers. More than 620,000 people work at its offices worldwide. Accenture hired 54,000 employees in the last quarter.

Why is VR an important development during onboarding/ hiring? It’s because new hires need to understand and familiarize themselves with the company’s policies and culture and their position in the bigger setup. An effective onboarding process improves the retention rate of a company significantly.

The Huawei Watch Fit has a 1.64-inch vivid AMOLED display, comes with over 97 workout modes, and all-day SpO2 monitoring. It resembles a lot with the newly unveiled Redmi Smart Band Pro, which also offers SpO2 tracking.

The new Huawei Watch Fit is priced in India at Rs. 8,990. The wearable is listed exclusively on Amazon India with sale pegged to begin from tomorrow i.e., November 2. It comes in several strap colour options including Sakura Pink, Isle Blue, Graphite Black, and more. Launch offer include a free Huawei Mini Speaker with the purchase. This offer is applicable till stocks last.

On the specifications front, the Huawei Watch Fit features a 1.64-inch HD AMOLED display with 70 percent screen-to-body ratio. Other display features include adaptive brightness and 130+ watch faces with options to customise. In addition, it comes preloaded with six Always-On watch faces.

There are over 96 workout modes with advanced data tracking on the Huawei Watch Fit. It has 11 professional workout modes including running, walking, cycling, swimming and more. The other 85 workout modes include fitness training, dancing, ball games, water sports, winter sports and extreme sports. The smartwatch comes with 12 animated fitness courses and 44 standardised fitness exercises built-in to give users free one-on-one personal training without the need for a smartphone or any other device.

The Huawei Watch Fit comes with heart rate, sleep, menstrual cycle and blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitoring. Huawei has integrated its proprietary TruSeen 4.0 heart rate monitoring to support intelligent background heart rate monitoring, while Huawei TruSleep 2.0 delivers sleep stage monitoring real-time heart rate monitoring, and sleep respiration quality.

Huawei Watch Fit claims to offer 10-day battery life with continuous heart rate and sleep monitoring. The watch claims to charge up to 70 percent in just half an hour. Only five minutes of charge is said to sustain the Huawei Watch Fit for an entire day of typical use. The Huawei Watch Fit records daily steps, activity hours, and periods of medium to high intensity activities in a colourful, circular pattern. It is capable of providing alerts for SMS messages, incoming calls, and calendar apps. Also, it can provide message notifications from social media apps. The watch can also work as a remote shutter or for controlling music playback on your smartphone. Furthermore, it includes features including Weather, Alarm, Timer, and Stopwatch.

The Huawei Watch Fit also has 5 ATM water resistance as well as compatibility with devices running at least Android 5.0 or iOS 9.0.

Redmi Smart Band Pro and Redmi Watch 2 Lite have been announced. The two wearables come just days after the launch of Redmi Watch 2 and the Redmi Note 11 series. Redmi Smart Band Pro is a significant upgrade to Redmi Watch 2 Lite. It sports a larger display, over 110 workout modes, and comes with up to 14 days of battery life. Redmi Watch 2 Lite, on the other hand, is a slightly cheaper version of Redmi Watch 2. It comes with a 1.55-inch colour touch display, over 100 fitness modes, blood oxygen saturation level (SpO2) measurement, up to 10 days of battery life, and multi-system GPS.

Pricing of both Redmi Smart Band Pro and Redmi Watch 2 Lite have not been announced. Its availability details have also not been revealed. However, now that they are official, both the devices are expected to go on sale in global markets soon. Redmi Smart Band Pro comes in a Black colour option and Redmi Watch 2 Lite comes in Black, Blue, and Ivory watch case colours. Strap options on Redmi Watch 2 Lite include Black, Blue, Brown, Ivory, Olive, and Pink.

On the specifications front, Redmi Smart Band Pro features a 1.47-inch (194×368 pixels) AMOLED touch display with 282 pixel density, 100 percent NTSC colour gamut coverage, 8-bit colour depth, and up to 450 nits of peak brightness. It has a 200mAh battery that claims to offer up to 14 days of typical usage and 20 days of usage in power saving mode. Redmi Smart Band Pro has a six-axis sensor, PPG heart rate sensor, and light sensor. It is 5ATM certified, supports Bluetooth v5, and is powered by the Apollo 3.5 processor.

Redmi Smart Band Pro is compatible with phones running on Android 6.0 or iOS 10.0 and later. Redmi Smart Band Pro weighs 15 grams and has over 110 workout modes. It comes with heart rate monitoring, SpO2 monitoring, and sleep quality tracking. The workout modes include outdoor running, treadmill, outdoor walking, outdoor cycling, HIIT, jumping rope, rowing machine, elliptical machine, and more. Redmi Smart Band Pro automatically detects three fitness modes — treadmill, outdoor running, and outdoor walking. Other features include deep breathing exercise, stress level monitoring, menstrual tracking, and more.

Coming to Redmi Watch 2 Lite, the smartwatch features a 1.55-inch (320×360 pixels) TFT display. It comes with over 100 watch faces and over 100 workout modes. These modes come with 17 professional modes, including HIIT and Yoga. It is 5ATM water resistant, inbuilt GPS, SpO2 monitoring, sleep monitoring, 24-hour heart rate monitoring, stress monitoring, breathing exercises, and menstrual cycles.

Redmi Watch 2 Lite claims to offer up to 10 days of battery life and 14 hours of continuous GPS sports modes. It comes with 262mAh battery and magnetic charging port. Useful features include music control, weather, message notifications, incoming call notifications, and Find My Phone. The Redmi Watch 2 Lite weighs about 35 grams. It supports Bluetooth v5 and supports devices running Android 6.0 or iOS 10.0 and later.

Meta Platforms, the company formerly known as Facebook, is developing a smartwatch with a front-facing camera and rounded screen, according to an image of the device found inside one of the tech giant’s iPhone apps.

The photo shows a watch with a screen and casing that’s slightly curved at the edges. The front-facing camera — similar to what you’d see on a smartphone — appears at the bottom of the display, and there’s a control button for the watch on the right side.

The image was found inside of the company’s app for controlling its new smart glasses launched in partnership with Ray-Ban. The picture was located by app developer Steve Moser and shared with Bloomberg News. A Meta spokeswoman declined to comment.

The watch has a detachable wrist strap and what appears to be a button at the top of the watch case. Its large display mimics the style of Apple’s watch — rather than the more basic fitness trackers sold by Google’s Fitbit and Garmin. The camera suggests the product will likely be used for video conferencing, a feature that would make Meta’s device stand out. Apple’s smartwatch doesn’t have a camera, nor do rival products from companies such as Samsung.

Facebook has been planning to launch its first watch as early as 2022, but a final decision on timing hasn’t been made yet and the debut could be later, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. The company is working on three generations of the product aimed at different release time frames, the person said. The device in the image could ultimately represent a version that is never released, but it’s the first evidence of the company’s work on the project.

The Verge previously reported on Facebook’s watch plans, saying the devices may also include a heart-rate monitor.

The presence of the image in the glasses app, called Facebook View, could indicate the watch will be managed on iPhones and Android devices using that app too. Code inside the software indicates that the watch could be dubbed “Milan.” The code also suggests the camera will be capable of capturing both photos and videos and downloading them to a phone.

A smartwatch would be a new major hardware category for Meta, which currently sells virtual reality headsets and Portal video-chat devices. On Thursday, the company said it is working on a new high-end headset codenamed “Project Cambria” that mixes virtual and augmented reality. Meta has said a future watch could work as an input device or accessory for its headsets.

If Meta launches the watch next year, it would go up against the next generation of Apple devices. That company is planning as many as three new Apple Watches for 2022, including an Apple Watch Series 8 with a body temperature sensor, a new low-end Apple Watch SE and a rugged model geared at athletes, Bloomberg has reported.

A move into smartwatches would escalate a rivalry between Meta and Apple, which have battled over app store policies and privacy changes to the iPhone operating system. Apple is also planning to debut its first mixed-reality headset as earlier as next year, which would compete with the upcoming high-end Meta headset.

Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 users are getting a new software update that brings some new features to the wearables including status indicators. The Fitbit OS 5.3 update brings status indicators on the smartwatch that will let users know when the device’s battery is critically low right on the watch face. Users will also know when Do Not Disturb (DND) or Sleep Mode settings are on. Similarly, a new indicator will show when the watch isn’t connected to the smartphone. Additionally, the update also brings a new exercise mode, usual improvements, and bug fixes for Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 smartwatch models.

Fitbit announced the rollout of its Fitbit OS 5.3 for Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 via its community forum.

The latest status indicators will show at the top of the watch face for three seconds when the display is turned on and disappear after. Users can also swipe right to see the icons at the top of the quick settings menu. Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 users can turn these indicators on or off by navigating to Settings > Display and toggling Status Indicators.

Fitbit has also added new exercise modes in the Exercise app for its Sense and Versa 3 smartwatch models. These can now track outdoor activities like kayaking, skiing, and more. Additionally, the update includes bug fixes and improvements.

The update for Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 started rolling out from Wednesday, October 29 in a phased manner. In the initial stage, a select number of users will be receiving the update. Users are recommended to update the firmware version on their Fitbit wearables while it has a strong Wi-Fi connection and. Also, Fitbit OS 5.3 requires the latest version of the Fitbit app installed on your phone or tablet.

You can update Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 wearables from the Fitbit app. Once you open the app, select your profile from the top left corner, then select your device image. If the update is available, a pink Update button will appear, tap on it.

Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 were unveiled in August last year. Fitbit Sense features EDA sensor for stress management, an Always-on AMOLED display, heart-rate monitoring with ECG app, among other features. Fitbit Sense price in India is Rs. 21,999.

Fitbit Versa 3 features in-built GPS, PurePulse 2.0, a built-in speaker, and support for virtual assistants such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Fitbit Versa 3 price in India is Rs. 12,750.
