Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is largely expected to launch in January during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022. The phone has been spotted on Geekbench recently and now its marketing images have leaked online. Its full specification sheet has also leaked alongside, leaving very little to the imagination. Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is reported to come in Qualcomm Snapdragon and Exynos models varying with region. The phone is likely to have a similar design language as the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. It is seen to have a flat display with rounded edges and a hole-punch screen design.

CoinBRS shared what it claims to be marketing images of Samsung Galaxy S21 FE ahead of launch. The images suggest that the phone will come in four colour options — Black, Cream, Lavender, and White. It is seen to have a triple rear camera unit on the back with a similar camera module design as the Galaxy S21 flagship range. The phone’s selfie camera cutout sits in the top centre, and the volume and power buttons are placed on the right spine.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE specifications (expected)

As for specifications, the report suggests that Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is likely to run on Android 11 software. It could feature a 6.4-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,340 pixels) AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The phone is reported to come in both Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and Exynos 2100 SoC, based on different markets. The Exynos 2100 SoC is said to come with Mali G78 GPU, whereas the Snapdragon 888 SoC is said to come with Adreno 660 GPU. The phone is likely to pack up to 12GB RAM and offer up to 256GB storage option.

As for cameras, Samsung Galaxy S21 FE may have a triple rear camera setup that includes a 64-megapixel main sensor, a depth sensor, and an ultra-wide-angle sensor. At the front, the phone may feature a 32-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE may pack 4,500mAh battery with 15W fast charging support. Connectivity options are tipped to include 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The report additionally suggests that the phone may feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Google is reportedly bringing heart rate tracking and respiratory tracking features on the Pixel 6 via the Google Fit app. These features were available on Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a for a while, and now Pixel 6 owners can reportedly take advantage of them too. It is said to be out of “early access” phase, meaning a broad rollout is underway. Separately, few Pixel 6 users are reporting the removal of the Magic Eraser tool after the latest Google Photos update. Again, this seems to have affected only a few users as the update rollout has been stopped.

9to5Google reports that Google Pixel 6 units are now getting heart rate and respiratory tracking features via the Google Fit app. The app uses the phone’s camera to measure heart rate and respiratory rate. Google reportedly warns that this feature is “not for medical use” and that it is “being fine-tuned and may be removed.” The report adds that while testing the heart rate tracking feature, its results were accurate and matched that of a Fitbit tracker and a Pixel 5 in a “well-lit area.” However, the reading was roughly off by 30 beats per minute in a darker room.

On Google Fit, Pixel 6 users can check if they’ve received the feature by going to Browse > Vitals. The two cards will appear at the bottom of the Home tab.

In addition, Some Pixel 6 users are reporting that the Magic Eraser tool was removed after the latest Google Photos app update. This feature lets users remove unwanted objects from photos. However, according to Android Central, the Google Photos app version 5.67 has removed the useful feature for several Pixel 6 users. The rollout of this update has reportedly been stopped and those who haven’t updated their Google Photos app can still use the Magic Eraser tool on their Pixel 6.

Google spokesperson Alex Moriconi told The Verge that the company has “identified an issue early in the rollout of [its] latest Photos update and are providing a fix shortly.”

Amazon is introducing a new feature on Prime Video that will allow users to share video clips from their favourite series and movies with friends. With the latest functionality, users will be able to share Prime Video content video clips of up to 30 seconds on social media channels or via direct messages. It is only available for a selected number of movies and shows like The Boys, The Wilds, and Invincible Episode One. Amazon said there will be more titles to follow the new feature. The interactive clip-sharing feature is currently limited to iOS device users in the US.

Amazon on Thursday announced the addition of the clip-sharing feature through an official release. As mentioned, Amazon Prime’s video-sharing feature will be available on only iOS devices in the US in its initial rollout. While watching a title on the Prime Video app on your iOS device including iPhone and iPad models, you can tap the Share a clip button to create a 30-second video clip of what you are watching.

The app will then pause the show to open the clip where you get the option to edit and share it. Once a clip is created, you will be able to move it forward or backward to fine-tune. There is an option to preview it before sharing as well. From there, you can share the clip by tapping the Share icon on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Apple’s iMessage, Messenger, and WhatsApp.

Amazon says the new feature will be available for The Boys (Season One), The Wilds, Invincible, and Fairfax, but the streaming platform has promised to add more Amazon Original movies and shows later.

Amazon’s new initiative to let users to share its content as videos is a first-of-its-kind feature in the streaming space. Amazon’s major rivals in the market, Netflix and Disney+ are not permitting its users to capture screenshots of their content.

The UK Supreme Court has blocked a planned GBP 3.2 billion (roughly Rs. 31,929 crore) British class action against Google over allegations the internet giant unlawfully tracked the personal information of millions of iPhone users. Britain’s top judges unanimously granted a Google appeal against the country’s first such data privacy case on Wednesday, a move that upsets a string of similar claims waiting in the wings against companies such as Facebook and TikTok.

The landmark case led by Richard Lloyd, a consumer rights activist and the former director of Which? magazine, sought to extend Britain’s class action regime to include compensation claims for alleged misuse of data — even if there is no obvious financial loss or distress.

Lloyd, backed by a commercial litigation funder, alleged Google secretly took more than 5 million Apple iPhone users’ personal data between 2011 and 2012 by bypassing default privacy settings on Safari browsers to track internet browsing histories, and used this for commercial purposes.

“We are bitterly disappointed that the Supreme Court has failed to do enough to protect the public from Google and other Big Tech firms who break the law,” he said.

His lawyer, James Oldnall from law firm Milberg, called it a “dark day when corporate greed is valued over our right to privacy”.

Google said it had focused for years on products and infrastructure that respect and protect people’s privacy, and that the claim was related to events that took place a decade ago and had been addressed at the time.

British business also welcomed the ruling. The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) said allowing such a case could have put a chill on investment and impacted firms across the economy.

“The Supreme Court has recognised that the ‘loss of control’ of an individual’s personal data is not, in and of itself, sufficient to found a collective action for compensation,” said Kate Scott, a partner at law firm Clifford Chance.

“Data litigation will undoubtedly continue, but with a focus on claims where actual damage has been suffered — which is the right outcome for all businesses, and not just big Tech like Google.”

Under a US-style representative or class action, a group of people affected by the same issue are represented by a single person and are automatically part of a lawsuit, without individually signing up, unless they opt out.

Proponents of such lawsuits say they allow access to justice for those with small individual claims or without sufficient financial resources to take on often large, powerful companies.

Critics say such lawsuits fuel claims without merit, driven by opportunistic commercial litigation funders and law firms.

Motorola Moto G31’s alleged renders have been leaked online, showing a hole-punch display and a triple rear camera setup. As per a report, the budget smartphone is expected to launch in two colour options and could come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The specifications of the Motorola phone, expected to be a successor to the Moto G30 which was launched earlier this year, were shared by a tipster last month. The handset has also been spotted on a National Communications Commission (NCC) listing in Taiwan.

Citing industry sources, 91Mobiles reported that the Moto G31 will debut in India in Black and Blue colour options. The publication has also shared a few renders that show the same colourways. However, the NCC listing suggested that Motorola may launch the handset in Black and Silver colour options. It also suggests that Moto G31 has XT2173-2 model number.

When it comes to design, the renders shared by 91Mobiles show that the phone has a centre-aligned hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera. The power button, volume rocker, and a dedicated Google Assistant button are on the right spine. Moto G31 is seen with a triple rear camera setup and there is “50MP” written on the module.

These details are in line with an image shared by tipster Anthony. The image shows a smartphone in Silver colour. The smartphone in the image has the same camera module with “50MP” and “Quad Pixel” text, and a similar button placement as shown in the renders shared by 91Mobiles. The “50MP” and “Quad Pixel” text implies that the Moto G31 may come with a 50-megapixel primary camera. As per Anthony, the phone will pack a 5,000mAh battery with 10W fast charging support, a fingerprint scanner, and could be priced at $210 (roughly Rs. 15,600).

Moto G31 has also been reportedly spotted on the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and Wi-Fi Alliance websites, hinting at a 5,000mAh battery. Furthermore, the phone is tipped to feature a 6.4-inch full-HD+ OLED display, a 3.5mm headphone port at the top, and a USB Type-C port.

PUBG: New State launch has been delayed by two hours due to technical issues. The new battle royale game from the house of South Korean publisher Krafton was originally scheduled to be available for download in more than 200 countries around the globe including in India at 4:00 UTC (9:30am IST) on Thursday. The publisher, however, announced the delay in the launch just minutes after the game was meant to go live. PUBG: New State is touted to deliver a next-generation battle royale experience to mobile devices — on par with the PC version PUBG: Battlegrounds.

Krafton said in a press statement that the launch of PUBG: New State will now take place at 15:00 KST (11:30am IST) today (Thursday, November 11).

“In order to look into some last-minute issues with the cloud servers and ensure that service is stable upon launch, the official launch of PUBG: New State will be delayed by two hours,” the company said. “We are working to resolve these issues and apologise to all of our Survivors for this delay.”

Gamers who pre-registered for PUBG: New State were able to download the game from Google Play and Apple’s App Store on their Android and iOS devices, respectively. However, due to the technical issues, they are seeing an “Unable to connect to the server” error.

PUBG: New State was announced in February as a new version in the PUBG franchise. Since the announcement, the game has garnered over 50 million pre-registrations on both Android and iOS. Pre-registrations for PUBG: New State went live in India in September.

Late last month, Krafton announced the final test of PUBG: New State before its launch that was conducted in 28 countries globally, including in Bahrain, Hong Kong, Korea, Myanmar, Nepal, and Singapore, among others.

PUBG: New State is promised to have new maps and an improved gameplay over PUBG Mobile. It is also claimed to have an all-new rendering technology and a gunplay system that is similar to what’s available on the PC version PUBG: Battlegrounds.

Moto G Power (2022) smartphone has been spotted in a Geekbench listing. The handset will be equipped with 4GB of RAM and run Android 11 out-of-the-box, as per the listing. The details about the rumoured smartphone are scarce and Motorola has also not made anything official about the launch plans yet. The company introduced Moto G Power (2021), the predecessor of Moto G Power (2022), along with Moto G Stylus (2021), Moto G Play (2021), and Motorola One 5G Ace in January this year.

As per the Geekbench listing, the Moto G Power (2022) will be run on an octa-core MediaTek Helio G35 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. The phone is said to launch with Android 11. The benchmarking website has rated the phone with 165 points and 1,013 points in single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

There is no information about the launch of the Motorola handset. Tipster Evan Blass claims that the handset has a codename “Tonga”.

The Moto G Power (2022) is the successor of the Moto G Power (2021), which was launched in January earlier this year. It made its debut in the US at a starting price of $199.99 (roughly Rs. 14,800), but the phone was not launched in India. It is yet to be seen whether the Lenovo-owned company will unveil the smartphone in the country this time around.

Moto G Power (2022) features a 6.6-inch HD+ (720×1,600 pixels) display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Snapdragon 662 SoC and comes with up to 4GB of RAM. The Moto G Power (2021) features a triple rear camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 2-megapixel macro shooter, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. In the front is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support.
